Writers spend months or years writing and rewriting their screenplays but devote very little time to come up with a strong, clever title. The title of your script is the only connection readers, producers and agents have to your material. With the overwhelming volume of material they read, a compelling title will hook you into their memories. The title should express two things: First, it should convey the genre. "Die Hard" can only be an action movie. "Jurassic Park" can only be an adventure film. The second thing the title should convey is as much information about the story as possible. I sold a project called, "Criminology 101." From the title, you know the genre is crime/suspense and you also know the story's about a college course in criminology. |
