First of all, I apologize for being late on this one. I was supposed to have an operation on my ear today, and I was busy stressing. I got lucky, as there was a stay of execution until Thursday. Before I continue my story from last week, let me give you a quick update. I sent my sports drama to Section Eight today. My manager hasn't been returning my e-mails lately so I imagine she's going through some personal issues right now. Anyway, I had to order the one week special of The Hollywood Creative Directory in order to get the address. I'll get as many as I can in preparation for future contacts. Anybody need an address?
Anyway, I'll continue with my story. The guy's concept was fairly good. It certainly has potential. The only thing that bothered me was his main character was a little girl with spiritual powers. Well in one of the scripts that I sent him, the main character was a little boy with healing powers. Hmmm... This gave me pause. I friend of mine actually told me to blow him off, that he was just trying to use me. I thought about the whole situation and I continued to hear him out. His story is actually a good one that I think I could tell very well. No other screenwriter has the special talent I have developed over the years. I'm not being conceited here. I'm not the best screenwriter in the world by far, but I do believe my style is unlike any other.
So, I told the producer/director that I'm willing to write the script on spec under the condition that there is a written contract between us. I told him exactly what I'm asking for and I'm now awaiting his reply. There's also a clause in the agreement for me to co-direct the film with him, which I'm totally for. So wish me luck, people!
