When you're hot, you're hot. And when you're not, you're not. Wise words? More like BS if you ask me. But if it's true, I guess you could say I'm room temperature with the potential of being luke-warm very soon. First of all, I never got my girlfriend to call Section 8. The holiday had me totally sidetracked. Actually it was just another good reason to procrastinate. So sometime this week I need to have somebody call Section 8 and get permission to send out my sports drama. In addition to that, I just read of another production company looking for sports-related screenplays. The only problem is, all their movies have to be PG-13 or less. My screenplay is definitely an R. Still, it wouldn't hurt to set up a meeting with these people and show them the script as a writing sample.
Another new development has recently occurred. A man who saw my documentary, "Angels of Light," contacted me recently. He said he was very impressed by the work and wanted to read a writing sample. I sent him my best work and he thought it was brilliant. So, he sent me a video of a feature film he recently wrote, produced, starred-in and directed. The film had a good concept and decent production value. However, it was apparent that it was the product of a first-time director, and not an actor's director. So I gave him some constructive criticism about the film, which he took surprisingly well. He then initiated a conversation on the possibility of me writing a script based on a concept he has been developing. He also said that he unfortunately was unable to hire me to write the script. But he was willing to give me a good back-end deal.
So I decided to listen to his concept...
