“Self-Realization: The Heart of the Hero’s Journey”
Reg Harris discusses how stories using the Hero’s Journey are perfect illustrations of the ways we can confront and challenge the false image that we have developed of ourselves, our false self that is built on our earliest attempts to protect our ego when we were faced with new, unfamiliar, and therefore fearful cirumstances. The Hero’s Journey can thus be seen as a process of uncovering, or re-discovering, our real self.
